We want to introduce you to the dancers who will perform in Romeo & Juliet. Next we will introduce Aksinja Lommi.
Dancer Aksinja Lommi received her training in the Tamara Rasmussen School where she nowadays teaches modern dance and acrobatics. Between the years 2004 and 2011 Aksinja danced in several pieces of dance theatre Jazz-Point and she has also performed in two musicals, Mary Poppins and Wicked, in Helsinki city theatre.
In spring 2013 Aksinja will graduate with a M.A. degree in dance from the Finnish Theatre Academy. During her studies she has been dancing in a group Kinetic Orchestra which is lead by Jarkko Mandelin. She has also performed in Sébastien Ramirezi’s and Hyun-Jung Wang’s piece True Blue Market. Her latest work was Jyrki Karttunen’s piece 100 tapaa nauraa in 2012, which was a joint work of Helsinki Dance Company and Karttunen Kollektiivi.
We are so excited!
The premiere of Romeo & Juliet will be next week’s friday November 30th. The dancers have been practicing the piece in Stoa during this week and the make-up looks have also been tested. Here are some photos from Stoa:

We want to introduce you to the dancers who will perform in Romeo & Juliet. Next we will introduce Daniela Bendini.
Daniela Bendini of Finnish/Italian origin, received her education at Ass. Alicia Wronska in Genoa and at Aterballetto under the direction of Mauro Bigonzetti. She worked with several companies in Europe such as ITDansa, Centre Choregraphic National Roubaix C.Carlson, Compagnia Zappala Danza and performed choreographies by Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Rui Horta, Ramon Oller, Jo Stromgren and others.
She has been working as an assistant for Roberto Zappala and as a teacher for different institutions and companies including Artez Danzakademie Arnhem, Compagnia Zappala Danza, The Göteborg Ballet, Skanes Dansteater Malmö and Helsinki City Theatre. Currently she works as a freelance dancer and teacher across Europe and collaborates with different artists on her own projects.

We are very proud to announce that Susanna Leinonen received the annual City of Helsinki Cultural Award! The award is granted by the Culture and Library Board to a person as an recognition of artistic work and contribution to Helsinki’s cultural scene.

Maija Kiviluoto has graduated with a M.A. degree in dance from the Finnish Theatre Academy in 2004. After graduation she has worked as a freelance dancer with several finnish choreographers, as well as in the Finnish National Opera. She is also a founder and a dancer in Petri Kekoni Company. She has danced in Susanna Leinonen Company since 2004, in the choreographies Disturbed Silence, And the Line Begins to Blur, Trickle, Green Oak and Blinded Mind. The Finnish Cultural Foundation has provided Kiviluoto a one year artists’ grant in 2012.
